BIOGRAPHY I was born in 1970 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Growing up in Former Yugoslavia was great but difficult at times, difficult from a communication perspective. While my contemporaries listened to Yugoslav folk music, I was into Beethoven and Haydn. While others loved Croatian naïve painters, I was discovering early Abstractionists, Jacques Villon, in particular. I have been painting ever since I can remember, possibly because my father was a painter too. Initially, however, I chose a different path for myself. I became a musician at the age of ten and started playing drums professionally when I turned thirteen. I landed a contract with two different groups and together we recorded two albums. While on a tour, in 1989, I saw a painting by French artist Claude, and this painting changed me forever. I realized that painting was all I wanted to do. I abandoned drums, and retreated into myself for several years. In 1992, following the outbreak of war in Bosnia I found myself wondering around major capitals of Europe. Eventually, though, I settled in London, accompanied by my wife Irena, who provided moral and financial support. Inspired by Dali's "Autumn Cannibalism," between 1992 and 1996 I painted nearly 200 abstract and surrealist paintings. Most of these were somewhat experimental in subject matter but dealt primarily with war and sex; however contradictory, these two subjects do intermingle. I remember reading H.M. Remarque's stories from World War I. During those sad times, people retreated to sex, satisfying their second most basic instinct. Since moving to the U.S. in 1996, my wife and I have had a daughter and the subjects of my paintings have changed. Although the drama is still there, one can clearly see a new "glow" in my paintings. I now find inspiration in words of association and symbolism. Although Dali's influence may still be present in my art, I am certain that it demonstrates passion and internal fights, almost closer in emotion to the works of Van Gogh. My work has been featured in a number of exhibitions and my paintings can be found in public and private collections in Italy, Africa, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the U.S.
